Paint Party Friday: Week 27, Year 6 Check-In

Welcome to Week 27, Year 6 of Paint Party Friday!

Before we kick off this week's party, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge a concern that was raised in last week's comment section:

We (EVA and Kristin) appreciate your input and take all of your questions seriously.  We have discussed this concern ourselves, not only this week but over the years, as well as possible solutions. We kept coming back to our very first posts, the type of place we hoped Paint Party Friday would be, and why we created PPF five and a half years ago...

One of the things that was central to our mission was that we keep it a party free of rules (other than being polite, of course!).  While we certainly encourage you to post paintings where you have splashed some sort of actual paint around, we understand that everyone (especially in an ever growing digital age) has a different definition of what "painting" is to them.  We would also love for all of the party goers to be able to mingle and chat with as many other painters as they can, but we realize that everyone has different schedules and different amounts of time they can spend on the computer.  (It was also brought to our attention that not all of our guests are able to leave comments on certain types of blogs for technical reasons.. Perhaps you can check your settings - the "comments" section - on your blog and make it as flexible as possible. That would be greatly appreciated. The "Anyone" setting is best. You can always delete Spam if you get any.)

It is our hope to keep Paint Party Friday a fun and supportive environment for you to share your weekly painting accomplishments.  We would like to continue to be able to allow you to decide for yourself whether PPF is an appropriate place for you to share the type of art that you do.  And, as much as we would like to urge you to visit and get to know as many of the other PPF party guests as you can, we realize that only you can decide how much or how little time you have available for participating. We know that we wish we had more time ourselves for painting, partying and visiting with you instead of mostly participating in the background.

It is not (and never has been) our intention to be the painting police.  We respect that all of our PPF party guests are adults who can decide whether their post is appropriate for this venue, who can decide how much they participate, and who can simply choose not to visit the blogs that they don't feel are appropriate.

We continue to be amazed, delighted and awed by the love, kindness, and support you all show each other... Thank you for keeping PPF such a caring community and for sharing your beautiful art with us.
We appreciate your feedback, and are always open to your suggestions.  Please feel free to email us with any questions you may have.

Enough of the serious stuff... Let's Party!

As always, please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 posts.
Hope you discover some new and different inspiration this week!

  3. Thank you, Eva and Kristin for that thoughtful post on what PPF is. To me PPF is one place I look forward to visiting every week and getting to know other participants is the best part of it.

  4. Personally I love the way we party. I make sure I visit every blog to see what type of art weather it is paint, mixed media, digital, graphite, or unconventional materials. It is precisely this mix of art that makes PPF unique and genuine. I do paint, but I also create with all different kinds of materials. I would hate to have to miss PPF because that week I didn't paint on canvas. I have also made some very good friends that I connect with outside of PPF. I hope we stay they way we are.

  6. I've been participating (on and off) since PPF first started all those years ago, and I love how it's changed in some ways, as we've all changed. But how the basic principle (as I've always seen it) has remained the same - to create and share more regularly and consistently, to bring a community of like-minded people together, and to be exposed to different styles. I could care less if it's abstract watercolors, oil still life painting, mixed media journal pages, digital art, or body painting. 'Painting' and expression comes in all forms and I want to see it all! In short, I love PPF and all of you wonderful ladies!

  7. My response to Janes query about paintings is this! I invite people to my blog each week to share the excitement of my passion with drawing! I am not a painter! I do splash paint, usually watercolors, on some of my drawings, but I am continually exploring new tools! So this week you will find a preponderance of gel pens!
I had so much fun with them! I've been coming here for several years and never before was I led to believe that Paint Party Friday was limited to painters! I visit others blogs and find a wide variety of styles and mediums, all of which broadens my perspectives and encourages me to try new things! Viva last differences! I hope nothing changes here! I've always appreciated the welcome and opportunity to share my art with others! I again, as I did on my blog the last few weeks, apologize about being unable to visit fifty or more blogs every week! I go to as many as I can! I skip around the list so it's not always the same early bird bloggers! I appreciate those who make time to visit my blog but I don't expect everyone to have time to do so each week! Thank you both for hosting a fun congenial group of artists!

  8. I wish all bloggers would have name/URL option to leave a comment. If not I'm not able to leave a comment even if I'd wanted...
All kinds of works are interesting, it's great to see how creative we are whatever the medium.
    Thanks for hosting PPF!

  9. Kristin and Eva thanks for all you do. I think ppf is a fantastic showcase for all types of art. I do have some reservations about purely digital art but at the end of the day it's personal preference. As for comments I try to visit as many as I can..often I'm snowed under with work commitments but will endeavour to visit more ppf friends thanks again.

  11. This is such a great place to grow at our own pace and still be so inspired to push the envelope! Thank you for addressing this comment so eloquently. My sentiments exactly! I feel so safe to share with such a beautiful varied group of creative souls here at ppf! I find the diverse mediums wonderfully inspiring! Thank you for hosting with such love and care to all. We are truly blessed to have such kind souls participating and at the helm!

    Love and hugs to all

  12. I've been coming to the party on and off since pretty much since it started and do always try to visit as many as I can - usually the people who've gotten there before me when I get there on a Friday morning and I will always try to visit those kind enough to visit me on my blog. I love the community that PPF has created over the years and I always try to take time to leave genuine comments relevant to what other artists have created. We all have our own preference to the kind of art we create and that we personally like but it's so subjective and I for one have learned a lot from seeing the tehniques others use that I may never have heard of otherwise. Let's keep partying!

  13. I can understand what the person says. Myself I hesitated for weeks before I decided to enter with my digital art.
I had a meme myself for that purpose running for years. It never got to be a large one and the last year people dropped off one by one. Moving into GOOGLE+ and FaceBook. When there was only two people left I had to close.
I have seen the same thing happening to other memes, PPF also I think. Thought it would be great to get more people interesting to keep it running.

I hope you guys like what I create even if it is not oilpaint.

  16. Well said EVA and Kristin. Ever since discovering PPF some years ago it has come to be my very favorite place to party every week! I have "met" so many kind and talented souls here. I have learned so many new forms of expression because of those linking up and sharing their art (in whatever form/medium it is)and it is such a pleasure to take time to visit as many people as I can. I hope this party runs for a very LONG time. Thank you dear hosts, and thanks to all the party goers! Happy PPF!

  17. Well, here I am. This message caused me much thought. Never feeling right at the JKPP or on Ayala Art's 29 Faces or here on PPF, I looked around all places and saw lots of versatile types of art, so I joined in the fun. Because I wasn't part of PPF at the beginning I did not know about the "paint" rule. Thank you EVA and Kristin for your encouraging words and making me feel welcome. I couldn't agree more with your final comment..."Let's party!"

  18. I blog once a week because the computer gives me problems with my eyes but I try to make it clear to 'scroll down' to the link you want and I am doing 'painting' ~ do enjoy your group and do comment ~ 2016 is a 'digital age' and change is our one constant ~ Thanks for doing such a great job with PPF ~ Wishing you a Happy Weekend ^_^

  19. P.S. I will make every effort to get around this week to all the participants. I am the one who misses out if I don't get to see everything. It just takes a while to get it done.

  20. I just moved to Tulsa from So. FL. It took me 3 weeks to even get my stuff, then the new apt. flooded and I had to move again to another apt. All my stuff 1/2 a truck load. I have been remiss in a lot of things in the meantime. Everybody has a story don't JUDGE others. I am doing the best I can. Photography is not an easy art form. . .but it is ART. I always always include one of my paintings, but I want to share so much with this beautiful art crowd as I enjoy when they share their 'life' with me. Blessings, Janet

  21. I love to visit PPF and some weeks it's the thought of posting here that actually motivates me to allocate some time for my artwork. Without it I would possibly procrastinate on a completely new level and my art would decline or possibly fizzle out! I enjoy seeing all aspects of art here and think it actually expands my knowledge, technique and provides masses of inspiration.
Well done Eva and Kristin for providing this artistic community. I feel it's really special. Thank you
    Happy PPF to everyone :D

  22. As Valerie says I like PPF as it is!

  23. Well said! I almost quit posting to PPF recently because i felt so guilty about hardly ever commenting on more than a few other blogs each week, but i got such nice comments asking me to "stay" that I have kept posting. PPF is the main reason I do post weekly, and i love seeing such wonderful, creative blogs. I have been here from the beginning, I think and i would hate to see it change. I have never received a negative comment or met a rude blogger on this site and i appreciate all the work you do, Eva and Kristin!

  24. I think if you love art and love creating you should be able to do it in any form that gives you satisfaction. It is the joy of creating and then sharing that makes this the perfect place to come. Eva and Kristin, you are spot on in your response and that is why your meme is so successful in so many ways. Thank you for giving all of us the opportunity to meet and share.

  25. I have been missing for a while! My son went away to college--it's been a while. So glad I have this group even though I do not always paint--love to be creative here. xo

  26. Well, I wasn't going to link up because my post this week is all about charcoal drawings, but then I read what you wrote and I thought it might be welcome after all. I usually paint, but have recently also started working in charcoal and really love it. If it's not appropriate for here, let me know! I love everyone's work in this group, no matter how it was created!! xoxo

  29. I have not been around for a bit. So glad to be back! This is my absolute favorite place for encouragement, meeting new creatives and seeing what "art" is out in the world. I think the word "paint" can be taken too literal. To me, this is a big art PARTY! Some days I can visit only a couple people due to my nerve issues, it's just too painful. Other days are better and I have even visited everyone throughout Friday & Saturday.

Artists are original creative people and see their "art" in their own way. Before I could no longer do it, I use to bead. I would do very large pieces of beaded art. I use to tell people I was painting with beads, and that is how I looked at it.

I guess what my babble is trying to say is, I LOVE Paint Party Friday!!! I never thought of "how" people painted. This is a PARTY for visiting and celebrating all the amazing artists throughout the world! How cool is that? I love and appreciate PPF! It's great! Thank you Eva and Kristin for all you do. PPF is great! Big hugs to both of you, Rasz

  30. I love PPF since it was first created, Kristin and Eva are amazing and generous souls who have made an all-embracing forum for us to enjoy and explore and meet and encourage one another. I deeply appreciate it! It is a place where there is no art-snobbery/negativity, it is inclusive and inspiring!

I feel as artists we should always support one another, never censor/judge others, for all artforms and artistic-expressions are valuable in their own way, every contributing artist is valuable. even if something is not your cup of tea I feel we should be supportive positive and embracing. It is truly up to Kristin and Eva what they feel is ok with them.

I always shared my paintinsg here over the years, and more recently my drawings/ sketches. I recall asking if it was ok! It was my fellow PPF's artists who said they wanted me to still share, so I do from time and time.

    I love this forum and honor/respect whatever K & E wish!
I hope it stays a positive place for everyone to share! It is why we are all here...to share and inspire..grow and learn and appreciate fellow artists in this uniquely-creative world we live in!PPF celebrates all artists, this will always be important no matter where you create on your personal spectrum!

    Happy PPF

  31. I think you do a remarkable job encouraging and supporting all artists and their work! I've lately been to busy to post, but have just gotten back to it. I like that I can give it whatever time I have, and check in whenever I can. I never have enough time to see everyone, but still love connecting! I love catching up with my art friends - even if it is sporadically! Happy PPF to all!! :)

  32. This is a wonderful group! I try to visit some people each Friday, but I'm not able to visit everyone. Personally I love the diversity of what people share. This is such a warm community and I think it's great as it is.

  33. Eva and Kristin you have done a marvelous and consistent job of creating a supportive network of artists. I have enjoyed the various medium used to express creativity here and the warm supportive comments I have received. It has been particularly delightful to develop friendships through PPF. While I am often not able to visit everyone each week, I try my best. Thank you once again for being generous hostesses.

  34. Aw heck. i love how laid back PPF is.

we all do what we can with the amount of time that we have in our own personal lives. i visit around when i can and check out other folks posts. i don't give one hoot if it is paint or photos or just chatter - i like to see what other artists are up to - even if they haven't painted lately.

i don't always leave a comment, but i'm always happy to see what folks post. this is something we all do just for fun and to connect so i appreciate how loose it it is. comment if you want, or don't. visit if you want, or don't. paint if you want, or don't.
we are all "painters" here - and we all link up for the same reason - we want to connect with other painters. There isn't any reason to be left out of that if you haven't had time to paint lately. And last time I checked, digital painting yields results every bit as beautiful and interesting as painty paint.
so right - i love the way PPF is run. i like the laid back feel of it.
also i like all of you guys who let me lurk quietly around your blogs.
i'm grateful for this blog hop thing, and i hope it never changes.

  35. I enjoy participating here and appreciate all of the behind the scenes work that Eva and Kristin do so we can all have a place to share our creativity. I'm enjoying meeting artists from all around the world regardless their medium or style. Being a creative spirit is a wonderful thing ;) Happy PPF!
