Paint Party Friday: Week 39 Check-In

Welcome to Week 39 of Paint Party Friday!  How great to see so many of you painting (and partying) here even in these very busy times!

Last week we asked in the poll about whether or not you create paintings to reflect the season (whatever season it may be - Christmas is on many of our minds, of course, but we have seen lots of Hallowe'en inspired painting here at PPF too!) Many of you do paint for the season/celebration from time to time or depending on the celebration, others don't and some were inspired to try!

This week we have a similar question as last - we're thinking about paintings as gifts - Christmas, birthday, wedding or other occasion. Do you give your paintings as gifts?

Please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 Check-ins.

Have a wonderful time at the party! So glad you made time to drop by and mingle!

  6. Hi everybody! I make cards, calendars and presents etc for people, but have never given a painting as a gift. I don't think anyone would want one! Valerie

  7. I've given paintings as gifts to my friend and my brother in law for their birthdays this year and have drawn caricatures of family members as presents years ago when i was a student and couldn't afford to buy presents!

  8. My husband and I and my sister-and brother-in-law always exchange hand-crafted gifts for Christmas. They have given us the most beautiful quilts and turned wood bowls and vases you can imagaine. So, tow years ago, I decided to give thema painting. In my haste and enthusiasm to finish their gift on time Imoved my easel down to my kedeping room, so I could work on it more easily. Well, wouldn't you know it" I spilled most of a 10 gallon jug of white gesso on my black rug! My husband came in to get his morning coffee and there I was in my nightgown covered from head to toe (even my eyelashes) in white! I WAS able to get all the gesso our of the rug and the painting was ready on time, but never again will I paint aoutside of my studio. This week's painting is not a gift, but it is for my Chrismas opening in my hometown, so maybe someone else will give it as a gift this Christmas!

  10. I have painted as gifts in the past, and I have given many prints.Mostly I have given my jewelry as gifts.I must admit I did more of this when I was not working. When I have job(then I have money, ha, ha, ha) I usually go for buying presents because then I don't have the time to make everyone something! Its a catch twenty two, both ways are fun!Deb

  11. To answer your question, I offer my paintings and works of art at all times and not necessarily at Christmas.

  14. Hi, I am finally getting the hang of this. I would like to say "thank you" to our hostesses and to wish them happy holidays. As for my paintings as gifts...I usually am inspired to paint something, and if the painting is about some aspect of a friend or relatives' life I later give it to them as a gift. This Christmas I am giving to my niece Rosslyn Elliott, a painting I did of her first published novel that is a historical romance. The title of her book is "Fairer Than Morning". I had painted a stack of very different types of books I was reading at the time. Her book was included in that stack. My painting is called "Strange Selection" and was posted on my blog on May 24th of this year.

  17. Thanks, Eva and Kristin, for making Paint Party Friday a fun place to visit each week. I usually buy gifts but occasionally I will give away one of my paintings. I am doing so this year.
