Welcome to Week 48 of Paint Party Friday! Last week was another great week of amazing painting and creativity (and partying)! So wonderful to each of you at the party and to see all your efforts!
Last time we talked about your favourite paint brands and it seems the leading choice is Golden with Winsor and Newton coming in second for those with favourites. Something to remember perhaps, for the next time we go shopping (or when our spouse/family/friend asks what we want for ____ occasion). It's great to learn from the experiences of others as well as to try new things on our own.
We've seen hints over the last year, of special touches many of you add to your paintings. This week we started wondering - what are the secret ingredients in your paintings?
Please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 Check-Ins.
Have a great time at this week's party!
Happy Paint Friday to all. I don't really mix anything in my paint but maybe water. If I put glitter in it, the paint gets too mushy. So Paint it is. I'm off to bed now and will get to your blogs tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend and take care.
ReplyDeleteI really do love adding anything and everything I have on hand. I really cannot just paint. I am a true lover of mixed media. The more I mix, the happier I am!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting ladies!~
I just use paint and maybe water. Lately I've been thinking about glitter!
ReplyDeleteThank you Both!
ReplyDeleteI love it all - I do often collage and I usually add something found or hidden in a painting, but they all have some sort of sparkle or shine.
Have a great week and thank you once again,
Kristin xo
Woohoo! Posted a day early but linking up today.

Hello everyone! Great to be back this week! It usually depends on the piece I'm working on if I add anything or not. As someone else said, I also love mixed media. ;)
ReplyDeleteI use pen & ink, copic markers and want to add twinklings H2O's to my repertoire or additions to my watercolors. I kinda like being "mixed media"!
ReplyDeleteI mostly paint in oil, so don't add anything else to my paintings. However at Halloween this year, I did under-paint my entire canvas with gold acrylic glitter paint. When I painted my oil painting over it I would have to remove some areas of oil paint with mineral spirits so that you could see the glitter underneath. Now that I am doing some ZIA, I am using tissue, markers, ink and paint to color them.
ReplyDeleteNo additions to my paint, as I mostly use colored pencils these days. Happy PPF everyone! So glad that I joined this!
ReplyDeleteRecently (like real recently) got into texturing through collage/tissue paper & throwing the paint down on top, & it's fun, I love the way being a part of this community is so inspiring & takes us places we may not have gone otherwise with our art - thank you :)
ReplyDeleteDepends what I'm doing. No additions to my oils, but sometimes I use scrapbook paper, ephemera, glitter and texture paste in my mixed media work with acrylics. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI use mainly vectors (whatever they are...´_`
ReplyDelete) in drawing digitally, but sometimes I add parts of photographs in my creations. I also use ink liner and copic markers, colored pencils and watercolor. But if I painted with paints, I would be tempted by glitter...
Happy PPF!
^.^
I'll sling in anything - as long as it doesn't involve sewing! I'm a real mixed media gal!
ReplyDeleteI love playing with textures and different materials in my paintings!
ReplyDeleteI love including all sorts of things in my art but nearly always include some stamping!!
ReplyDeleteWow what a fab question! I thought the highest percentage would be 'all the above', but it was pure paint. Really interesting
ReplyDeleteI think that art worth everything, but my I like working with the colors and forms without adding objects or mateiales stress. Happy PPF. BSS
ReplyDeleteI love to just paint..so paints and brushes...and my imagination! that's it!
ReplyDeletevictoria
I love oil paint but now I will only use the water soluble kind of oils. the linseed oil is altered to be water soluble. no chemicals needed, but there is special modified linseed oil to use as thinner for these paints also - Check them out !. I like using natural "things" and unnatural things sometimes in my art. I used tree bark, as you see from my two pieces this week (#47)I have used gel medium, and modeling pastes... old rope, pebbles, sand, string, canvas drop cloth cut outs, papers...I could go on and on. -KAT-
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I always have to include in my paintings are stamps! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI love the goldens and liquitex manganese blue. I've found that I really love using a palette knife too.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF! :)

I haven't as of yet added anything to my paintings, but once I used leaves as stamps so I guess that counts but I haven't done it again but I'd like to. I've gotten a lot great ideas though as I've read through the comments. I love all the ideas I get from everyone. Happy PPF! ~Jaime
ReplyDeleteLately just paint and ink but I do luv adding the magic.....once in a while.
ReplyDeleteNice to be back here.

Hi I am late getting here today. In Fact I thought today was Thursday. LOL
ReplyDeleteI was trained in oils by my grandmother who was a famous artist. I enjoy all mediums of art and have made my living with my bead art and publications. Now I incorporate just about anything into a painting.
Happy PPF

oo tissue paper is my absolute favorite...it's like magic! happy PPF!!
ReplyDeleteI love adding book pages, but also sheet music and scrapbook paper. It depends on my mood.
ReplyDeleteI love book pages, scrapbooking paper and tissue paper and also alternative materials (bills, tickets, voucher,...). Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteYour poll question was interesting! For me, it totally depends on what mood I'm in...but I can say I'm not a fan of tissue paper or glitter. Joining in on PPF for the very first time today--glad to be here :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm pretty boring, I just paint, no embellishments,
ReplyDeletethankyou for hosting
paint works for me! When i work with paint and epoxy resin, however it's an entirely different universe!
ReplyDeleteI love using texture mediums. I'm just beginning to explore what I can do with them.
ReplyDeleteWell, I never know when to stop!!!!
ReplyDeleteI did not get to visit any of you last week and I hope to catch up, may take a few days!
I DO appreciate the comments and hope to reply!
thanks!
I love texture so I use tons of heavy gel medium, book pages, etc... I'm starting to explore plaster a bit too which I am loving! Happy PPF to you all!

Just wanted everyone to know that I'm slowly getting to your posts. This party has really gotten BIG so it takes time to get to each blog. I'm trying, though. Have a great Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI work mostly in watercolor and I like layering colors, waiting for each layer to completely dry and then add more layers!
ReplyDeleteLate late late this week :0(
ReplyDeleteLate as well busy week. A little valentine fun :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really late this week because I was in Sydney from Friday to Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteMaps add direction for me!
