Welcome to Week 2, Year 3 of Paint Party Friday! We would like to again thank the artists that contributed their time and talents to the Paint Party Friday Auction Blog Hop to Benefit The Sandy Hook Elementary School. Thank you for helping to make this auction blog hop possible! We also want to thank all of you who put in bids, whether yours was the winning bid or not, for these lovely pieces of art. And to all of the rest of you for your encouragement and comments. You are each such a special part of the Paint Party Friday community and your support, effort, and kindness mean the world to us...
It looks like the final total for the auction was over $400.US!
Year 3 - hmmm. We have been debating about what, if anything, to have as a "theme" for Year 3. Year 1 had our art-related or fun polls, Year 2 focused on our Featured Artists. For Year 3, we will continue to have our weekly painting check-ins so we can all paint and party together. Do you want us to do anything more than that though? Some themes/ideas that have been put forward are:
- a totally optional challenge put forward by one of you for the following week (though some of you really love that PPF has no challenges...)
- a PPF Painting Spotlight: a featured painting of the week selected (by random draw) from the previous week's links
- links to favourite tutorials (Kristin is already doing some of this on her blog)

What do you think? Any ideas for a theme? Or shall we just do the check-ins without much ado? Please let us know in the comments, or if you prefer email us with suggestions.
In addition to a great auction last week, it was another hopping party with wonderful art!
As always, please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 Check-Ins.
Have a lovely creative week everyone!
P.S. It seems the amount of spam has been increasing. Ugh. Rather than using the horrid and amazingly difficult captcha, we encourage you to either moderate comments or not allow anonymous commenters. Don't click on the links. Just delete the comments. Most are caught in your blog's spam filters anyhow but ignoring and deleting is the easiest strategy! Captcha prevents most people from commenting so please try not to use it. Just delete the spam. Thanks!!
Hi ladies. I am back with your wonderful PPF. It has been a tough year with lupus and surgery. However, I am so happy to see all the wonderful artist. You do so much to allow us to share our art. Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough..... but her it is thank you.

I like the idea of a PPF Painting Spotlight: a featured painting of the week selected from the previous week's links.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting PPF, Kristin and Eva! :)
It's a great place to gather and share our art, a nice community. Maybe art/painting tips we can learn from?
ReplyDeleteI love PPF no matter what. I do like that it's open. I like Christine's idea about people's sharing tips. I wouldn't though because I don't have any. hahaha.:) Happy PPF every one and thanks Eva and Kristin.
ReplyDeleteYes, of course! Congratulations on year 3. Way to go!
DeleteI love the idea of the featured painting of the week. And the links to favorite tutorials or to inspiring blogs is also great!
ReplyDeleteAnd, oh yes, congrats for starting year 3 already! You're doing a great job! Thanks so much!
DeleteCongrats on starting Year 3 :-)
ReplyDeleteI think the spotlight idea is good.
IKE xx
I have been a happy follower and sometime contributor !
ReplyDeletethanks for organizing this blog!!!
Congrats on making it to Year 3... this is my favourite part of the week and really like the idea of a featured painting... I am not a fan of challenges and really look forward to seeing the wide variety of work that people are creating when I visit here... that is the most inspiring thing about being part of this is that everyone is doing different things and methods and things and I would worry that some people taking part in challenges may change that... but more than anything thanks to you both for organising this...xx
ReplyDeletecr.... !!! I was intending to apply to featured artist !
ReplyDeletethough, I love to participate in challenges...
thanks for hosting anyway !!
Happy Birthday! I think the good thing about PPF is that it is low stress, because everybody does what they want. Happy PPF, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI agree Valerie.
Delete- a PPF Painting Spotlight: a featured painting of the week selected (by random draw) from the previous week's links
ReplyDelete- links to favourite tutorials (Kristin is already doing some of this on her blog)
I love the spotlight idea but the tutorials also... So why not feature both? Sounds like a juicy post for every week. :) Happy PPF!!
wow, didn't realise we were in year 3, congratulations. I also like the idea of a Painting Spotlight selected by random draw. Whatever you decide its a great place to be a part of. Annette x
ReplyDeleteHello to all, I'm happy with anything, it's just so great sharing here! xx
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF and Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteHi I'm fairly new to PPF but I love it!
ReplyDeleteI do love its 'challenge free' format - its so inspiring to see such a variety of work each week, in style and theme.
I think it would be great to see a featured painting each week and I'm a fan of tutorials and tips too:)
You do such a good job each week - I do love P P Fridays
there is such a friendly vibe here.
Thank you
Karen
I love the idea of a random feature, although I really liked the artist spotlights also.
ReplyDeleteI really love that there is no theme, but maybe every three months we could have a themed week?
Congratulations on your third year + thank you so much for hosting us all, this is a fantastically supportive group + I look forward to it each week!

Thank you for hosting Paint Party Friday for the 3rd year! This has been the most wonderful way to meet online artists who blog and I've really gotten to know some great people in far flung places in the world that I may never get to meet in 'real' life! I like that there is no theme as such as we all have such different muses and inspirations for our art. The idea of a randomly drawn featured piece of work is a good idea though as often it's impossible to visit every single blog linked here and that way we might each discover a little gem we hadn't been aware of.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we're in year 3! Where has the time gone? I've been very sporadic with my blogging lately due to the issues I seem to have posting so please don't think I've forgotton about you all. It's good to be back again this week! :0)
ReplyDeleteHappy THREE Years! Thank YOU Kristin and Eva for keeping us all together. Just love all the ideas you have come up with. LOVE the open forum, LOVE the challenges, LOVE the spotlights, LOVE the camaraderie, and LOVE the fact that if I can’t participate one week – I’m still allowed back the next! Appreciate all the time you have all put in to supporting us all. PPF is a GREAT assemblage of artists and I am NEVER disappointed with what PPF brings to my world of paint and color. ❤
ReplyDeleteI've only been here about a year and so happy not to have missed out on more that what I already did! This is my favorite part of Fridays-so THANK YOU!!! I love the idea of a featured painting each week picked from the links. No matter what you end up doing tho I'll be here!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I am so proud to be part of this wonderful group of artists. Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to be a part of it, whatever you do. Maybe a combination -- sometimes a featured artist, sometimes a featured piece, and sometimes a tutorial. It's all good!
ReplyDeleteBeing new to artistic endeavours and very new to Paint Party Friday, I love that there is no weekly challenge to scare me away! Every time I see a theme for a link-up my mind goes a complete blank!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting Paint Party Friday and congratulations on its third year :) A featured painting of the week and links to favourite tutorials are great ideas.
Wishing you a very successful third year. Sorry i have no ideas on themes etc, maybe next week, if the weather warms up, my brain will too. Have a good week !
ReplyDeletexx
Thanks Eva and Kristin for continuing to host this wonderful gathering of creatives! Much appreciation for all that you both do..you are both awesome!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF everyone!
Victoria
I really enjoyed the Featuring artist series, and think that featuring a (random) painting would be the perfect continuation. Thank you so much for providing this wonderful place, it's such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWishing you best in the weekend ~ thanks for hosting ~ It is all good. ^_^
ReplyDeleteKeep it simple ~ please ~ thanks ^_^
ReplyDeleteHmmm, themes might be fun! Maybe our own version of famous paintings from the past. Featured artists is always fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring. Sorry I haven't been here for awhile. Trying to get back into regular blogging, miss the connection here.

Just keep it so you enjoy it -- I like the ideas stated and maybe a mix-up of features would work. I just want Eva and Kristen to have time to create in addition to hosting this wonderful blog. I've enjoyed being a part of it this past month and have learned so much. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust happy to be here and to share with all of the fantastic souls here ♥
ReplyDeleteIt's all good! I'm usually in my own little world so themes are pretty much lost on me. I love the idea of highlighting a painting from the previous week...sounds fun as long as it's not too much trouble for you. I'm a big believer in simplicity! Thank you soooo much for continuing to offer the opportunity to be a part of such an awesome community!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing everyone! This keeps me on my toes. Right now I am into painting pigs, so that's my inspiration, and this is a good place to post on Fridays. Everyone is so inspirational.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late been a bit busy. One featured piece of artwork a week sounds good to me. Though I'm happy going with the flow and just being here. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteLots of fun ideas! Whatever is easiest for you works for me though. I'm glad the auction was such a success, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy being here every week and really want to thank Kristin and Eva for giving us this place to meet, party and learn so many things!
ReplyDeleteI do like the fact that all styles, themes are welcome.
Hope you decide to keep things simple.
Love being here in any case! :-)
I love coming here and seeing all the other artworks. So cool :-) I don't really mind what format it all takes xxx
ReplyDeleteI am late this week- Staurday not Friday and wow what a lotta happenings right here- will take me ages to read through it all, but I will. Have a great weekend and thanks to Eva and Krisitn yet again.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have not participated much last year I have often looked at the art that came from the links here and I would love to see featured paintings here too. I am intending to take part a little more than last year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the gorgeous inspiration, keep all the good work up :)

I like a challenge? I think they make as stretch. As well as tutorials..... Happy painting
ReplyDeleteI just found this group through a friend Jocelyn Rossiter of Soul Brush. We have some of her work and I am trying to break out of the mold of just showing my work to very few people. I hope this will be a good avenue for me.
ReplyDeleteI too am a new contributor though I have been looking at all the lovely art for some time. I really like the idea of the randomly chosen featured artist as it is all so wonderful and deserves recognition.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for your comment about captcha. It doesn't stop me from commenting on other people's work but I really don't like it!
