Welcome to Week 45 of Paint Party Friday! 2012 is really off to an awesome painting and partying start!
In last week's fun poll, we learned that most of us are not very superstitious, at least not about Friday the 13th! We heard about superstitions new to us and strange things that happen to some of you. (We really want to watch Robin walking down the street when she is angry to see the streetlights blow out!)
In last week's links, Netty posted her new paintings on triangular canvases given to her by Valerie-Jael. Triangular! That was the first time we had seen triangular canvases. And it made us wonder - what shape do you prefer to paint on? And bonus points (haha) for telling us in the comments about the strangest shape you've painted on! ;)
Please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 Check-Ins.
Hope you have a fantastic time at the party!
Thanks so much for hosting Paint Party Friday again!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to it each week!! :)
All the best,

I confess I haven't painted on any strange shapes. Either squares, rectangles or once, a circle.
ReplyDeleteI am posting from Hawaii today, as we have escaped the bitter cold and nasty unusual weather in Seattle in the nick of time.
wow, can't believe I'm number 2 this week! I voted for rectangles, but am really intrigued by those triangles!
ReplyDeleteWow, #45. Time does fly. Rectangles is what I prefer, but I'll paint on whatever comes my way. tee hee. Happy Paint Friday everyone! Enjoy the weekend. Thanks Eva and Kristin.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much ladies! This is the best party ever!!! ...I like all shapes, and will try them all, but I do love a square!
ReplyDeleteUsually paint on paper, but like deep sided canvases of any type... strangest shape was my other half's toenails while he slept just before he went on a boys trip.... and no he didn't notice he had bright pink nails until he was in the locker room at the golf club.... one of my greatest painting moments.... so I am going to say favourite is toe nail shaped...xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, I am enjoying this. This week, I have shown painting on wood. . . my travel trailer to find my Yellow Cottage. , , , Blessings, Janet (JKW)
ReplyDeleteI really look forward to this every week! What a wonderful group of people! It's fun to support one another and to see what everyone's been up to!
ReplyDeleteLove to see what you create!
ReplyDeleteSome years ago a few friends and I made a group for circles. It was the size of CDs and it was fun! But I like to paint in more traditional shapes, like squares and rectangles :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your polls thank you for thinking of them. any shape is inspiring!
ReplyDeleteMy first time!!! I love everyones posts so far... and following new artsy blogs! Hope I get some "follow" love in return...
ReplyDeletehappy painting everyone!
xoxo

Hi, thanks for hosting again and have a great weekend everyone. Your party has grown so much over time. wow.

The strangest thing I painted on was probably a window many years ago when I worked in Tunisia and painted a Christmas scene on a hotel window over the festive period! My next surface is wood - I love how paint looks over the grooves on the surface!
ReplyDeleteHei, thank you so much for hosting this fun party and thank you all that visited my page last week, it was awesome! I look forward seeing your art.
ReplyDeleteI usually like to draw on good old rectangles, but I have painted some rocks (with kids), that was fun!
Thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeletegood to see i am with the most...lol...thanks yet again...xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great question! To tell ya the truth my watercolor paper has always come already cut, but now you've given me inspiration to try circles ovals and triangles. I have painted on things like rocks, boxes, and driftwood too.Happy PPF everyone!
ReplyDeleteSorry I cannot join you this week have not been able to do much painting. But am hoping to be at the fab party next week. Hugs to all and have a great artistic week, Annette x
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF everyone! I'm happy I am on time for the party this time :)
ReplyDeleteRectangles are the norm, but who doesn't like a change once in a while? Not me! :-) Thanks Kristen and Eva for making this a fun party...as usual! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really miss linking up with you guys! I just haven't been working on canvas lately. :( Love looking around at what everyone else is doing. Have a few things in the hopper and hope to be back real soon.!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning everyone! I can't believe how many people have signed up for PPF already. This will be a great turn out.
ReplyDeleteHave fun

So happy to be back in the Paint Party! I can't wait to see everyone's work :)
ReplyDeleteRight now I have to run! I am preparing by painting edges black, painting inserts blacks, gluing, all together and wiring for hanging, about 35 of my paintings for an exhibition on the 3rd of February. The reason why I am doing edges and inserts is because I bought floater frames but my paintings are on panels and the floaters are for 3/4 inch deep canvases! my mistake! A lot of extra work. I have to deliver and hang on Jan. 30 & 31. Only one other artist is in the show with me, so the pressure is on. I have about 60 paintings in the show all together!
ReplyDeleteI forgot, I have 4 triangle canvases, some ovals, and some octagons. But this year I have mainly been painting on
ReplyDelete6x6 or 8x8 inch Raymar canvas panels.
I had the bright idea to try painting family portraits for all of my siblings one Christmas when I was in high school, does slightly bumpy, oval count as a shape? If so that was mine.
ReplyDeleteI just started using cradled birch painting panels for my torn paper portraits and I find them much more suitable to my medium! Plus they are nice deep and the sides look beautiful painted. A little late to the party this morning since we are in the midst of an ice storm and power and internet have been intermittent. Looking forward to making the rounds though even if I have to do it with my iphone :)
ReplyDeleteMy entry is on my Wordpress blog. The OpenID is not working today with anyone who is using word verification. I am trying to get around that by filling in name and URL, where possible. Sorry if I can't get into your comment box to leave a comment.
ReplyDeletethank you so much for all the work you do to keep this going...i so look forward to visiting everyone here when i have the time to blog and play here in the winter months...i really appreciate all you do...

So glad to be joining the party again this week. It's been a while!
ReplyDeleteI don't really paint on anything too crazy and not really any crazy shapes. Usually just rectangular, though I do like square canvases and paper.
Happy PPF everyone!
I will try anything twice. I used drift wood in the painting I am sharing. This is my first time visiting your blog and participating in your paint party, but I will be returning. So many talented, creative bloggers! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try a triangle! Before Christmas I painted a lot on paper mache stars. I want to try a circle shape next. Most times, though, I'm plain square. Ha!
ReplyDeleteIt would be strange to use a triangle board but you could make an amazing Hexagonal design by pointing them all inward. THAT would be cool.
ReplyDeleteI usually use a square or rectangle canvas of wood, but think it'd e fun to try an odd shape!
ReplyDeletexoEsther
oops, I meant square or rectangular canvas OR wood! That's what I get for typing before I've eaten, lol!
ReplyDeleteHer triangular canvas paintings look fantastic! Generally my fave shape is the standard, I paint on rectangular canvases. Sometimes though I get a hankering for square or oval, but usually it's just rectangles :).
ReplyDeletethanks for this cool event!! I've been so happy with these Paint Party Fridays - my first one!
ReplyDeleteI'm rather inconsistent on PPF, but always enjoy blog hopping when I do! Hmmmm...it says leave a comment and there are 80 people entered and only 40 comments - is that the new math? LOL
ReplyDeletePaint Party Fridays always make for a Happy Friday in my household!! Thanks to everyone for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI have not been available to participate, it is good to be back.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to all you wonderful artists! ♥
ReplyDeleteWild winter weather here on the west coast good painting weather :)
ReplyDeleteto bad I am not a painter. This seems fun. :)
ReplyDeleteA little late to the party but here I am :) I love just about all substrate shapes to paint on. Hope to visit everyone soon & see what you're up to!
