Week 8!! Can you believe it?! Welcome back everyone! New players - we are thrilled to have you join us and look forward to seeing all your painting endeavours!
Last week our poll showed that those of you who preferred a size, like to work in the 5 to 24 inch range of canvases. Most of you are flexible and will work on any size canvas. Many of you will work on any recycled material. Annabelle even paints mushrooms! This week's poll was inspired by last Friday's post by Stephanie about choosing a favourite colour. We'd like to know if you have one, what is it and ideally why (in the comments) you love it so?
If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 check-ins. Please make sure to use your post URL address versus your blog URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website.
We'd also like to give a shout-out to the Charity Art Auction at Inspiration Avenue which some of our players are participating in. There are beautiful pieces there for a great cause. We hope you visit and bid high and bid often! It ends May 7th.
Looking forward to seeing your painting this week!
Looking forward to seeing your painting this week!
P.S. Kristin says color and EVA says colour but Kristin is so sweet she goes along with the Canadian/British spelling of some words here. We rather like "u" - and you, too! ;)
Being a Pisces, I tend towards cool colors. But I love color, so it's hard to pick sometimes. Sorry I posted my blogs' URL instead of the post. But I try not to post anything over the weekend, so folks can easily find my PPF post.
ReplyDeleteI like all the colors, because bright colors really make me happy. Give me reds, marigold color, casa azul blue, love, love and more love. Happy Paint Party Friday to all. If I don't see you, Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's here and in the world. Mom's ROCK!!
ReplyDeleteI must say I am a color lover! On Tues. I try to post color inspiration posts on my blog to share my love of color. But I painted our bedroom the prettiest shades of purples only darker on one wall. Purple is one of my favorites if I have to choose. Happy Mother's Day to all the artist moms! Theresa
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do a lot of work in black ink I do love all colours and am discovering a love of adding colour that isn't necessarily in the original subject of the painting!
ReplyDeleteI voted purple because I seem to have used various shades of it recently. But now I'm thinking maybe I should have voted all colours because the answer really changes with my mood. Like today my painting suggests multi-colours but predominately orange and red. And orange, red and pink are huge favourites of mine.
ReplyDeleteGuess I should have chosen the all colours button. LOL.
Happy PPF!

Oh and thank you for giving a shout out to the Inspiration Avenue charity auction. :-)
I like beiges, whites and natural colours around me, but when I paint, I go mad - I use a lot of bold and flashy colours, and really enjoy it, and I sometimes wonder why! Have a great PPF, Valerie
ReplyDelete!! Hello¡¡ I like to use all the colors, but always use more the blue`s game,it´s because my connection to the universe (which is what my daughter says.) Greetings to all
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the blues! There's nothing like indigo blue (in pencils) and ultramarine blue (in paints) for shading people!
Love your questions and these Paint Party Fridays!! Color or colour or favorite or favourite...it doesn't matter how you write it, it's all good! :)
I'm back - you all inspired me so much the first time! And I love all colors, but for painting, I love the BRIGHT ones.
ReplyDeleteI love ALL the colors, couldn't choose, really, I'm kind of like Dr. Seuss that way; on different days, I feel different ways......:)
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile to see the "I'd sooner choose a favorite star..." since I used those words in my traveling sketchbook for last week's PPF- thanks as always for doing this! You guys bring more inspiration than you know!
xoxo
Stephanie
I like blue, I think because it's a restful, peaceful colour and it's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love all colors. And for some reason I find it hard to just use one palatte. I will start with using beiges or some like that and wind up adding all kinds of colors. I Love colors!
ReplyDeleteI love all colors most especially the bright ones!
ReplyDeleteI'm a color junkie! In fact colors in general are probably what draw me most to any work of art.
ReplyDeleteI think I probably wind up using lots of violet and blue tones in my work. But I always like to add some element of bold contrast like really bright yellow as well.
Having said that.. the picture I posted this week is none of those things. It is NOT at all what I normally do. So..who knows!? :o)
My favorite color is green so I chose that, although my paintings are all colors, which I love also. I love greens because they can be soothing, cool, vibrant, dark or light they are all good and so many possibilities with their use. I also love flowers and landscapes and you need greens for those.
ReplyDeleteI adore blue and gold.I would like to get good enough in my painting to recreate art that looks as if it was stored in an attic for a very long time....worn and tattered and so very , very old....a relic from the past.
ReplyDeleteIn real life black and blue, creams, rust, browns and mushroom colours....haha....gave you gals a break this week. Oh and lately I have found a new colour passion the many hues of Daffodil Yellows.
Happy Mothers Day to all the moms xxxooo Annabelle
Happy to be back for another PPF! Happy Mother's Day to the mamas out there:)
ReplyDeleteIt's very hard to pick a favorite color. I'm partial to red, but then I think of all the reasons to like the other colors too! So I'd have to say I like 'em all!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the shout out for the Inspiration Avenue Charity Auction!
I love ultramarine blue! I use it a lot as an underpainting, and also in sky work. Something about that color makes my eyes happy.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a painting as yet this week. However, my wonderful Hubby has promised to take the children for me tomorrow and I have a painting planned to spend most of the day on. If it is good enough, I might enter it into a competition. So you will likely see me here either next week or as a very late entry here.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has had a great PPF!
Nutty
(going to bed early in preparation for tomorrow)
Good Morning,
ReplyDeleteJust a quick painting this morning to share with the gang!
My favorite color to paint with? Alazarin Crimson, Paynes gray!
have a great day
I like all colors, but really my fav in painting happens to be burnt umber because it is the best shadow color for almost anything. It is also a good base for a dark when you don't want to use black; burnt umber + ultramarine blue + some Alizarin crimson. makes a really good dark.
ReplyDeleteHowdy! I guess I was one of the few who chose red fro the poll. I know red cannot be used that often, except for cardinals and some flowers, but I still incorporate it whenever I can. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there, and happy paint party friday! :-)
ReplyDeletehave nothing new to share this week ... did not pick up a paint brush all week long (I'm kinda crabby when I don't get to paint). Played with a rake and a shovel last weekend to clean up the yard, but after that it was all down hill. Too much office work and no paint makes ger a very dull girl ... but thank YOU all for your inspiration ... there is HOPE ... and the colour RED!
ReplyDeleteI have favorite colors that I like to wear, but with painting, any color that I am working with at the moment is the most beautiful color! I was working with brown last night and just fell in love with the way it was looking.
ReplyDeleteHappy Paint Party Friday! Thanks everyone that visits my blog :)
Hi Everyone! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI am in a constant color-rush..love them all..I am most drawn to grabbing Reds and Blues..they seem to be my power colors I naturally reach for. Even Yellow has become prominent as a initial backdrop for my paintings..!
While I never have worn much color..visually and vibrationally it is very stimulating for me.
At one time in my life i studied Color Therapy/Color-therapist because I could aways see colors /energy....and found it fascinating to compare notes on what i already sensed intuitively about colors and also what they mean as well and how to use them for your health and wellbeing etc!
so colors for me..are exciting..
when i paint I use colors intuitively..and whether subtle or bold I appreciate all color palettes that i experience in art of others!
They are all vital for harmony and balance !
Happy Creating everyone!
Victoria~
Thank you for doing this! I'm needing this lift today. :)
