Paint Party Friday: Week 5 Check-in

(created at dumpr)

Another week, another Paint Party Friday! We are so happy to have you back or dropping in for the first time! We continue to be awed by the amazing talent that we discover as we visit each other and see what everyone is up to with their painting efforts. Whether we manage to get our visits in on Friday, on the weekend or into the following week, we love how you are painting and really getting into the party.

Some of us have even started to take it LIVE! Last Friday, EVA bundled up her paints and joined 4 girlfriends at one of their homes to paint and party. It was a fabulous time!! Paula has a painting class, conveniently on Friday, and it is really turning into a party. Kristin's PPF LIVE last week was spent appreciating paintings at a gallery with preschoolers - definitely a different kind of party, but still fun!

Anyone else taking Paint Party Friday LIVE? Tell us more about it in the comments or write about it in your blog. At EVA's PPFL (well, Diana's, but she doesn't yet have an art blog), everyone else hadn't painted in years, so the biggest dilemma was "What to paint?" Yikes! Luckily we were looking out a gorgeous window so that provided initial inspiration for some of the players.

This week's poll thinks about the incredible diversity we have seen so far and wonders if you have a favourite subject?

(By popular demand, we have added an "all of the above" choice - but we'd still love you to tell us more in the comments!) Last week we learned so much about how music inspires and augments your creativity. Silence, nature and classical music were strong accompaniments to painting but we learned from your comments that it really depends on your mood and what  you are painting. Some of us create our own mix of music and Priti Lisa has even offered to send you a copy of hers! We're excited to see what you've painted this week!

(BTW, if you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 check-ins.)

Have a great time at the party!!

  5. Yes, it's good to be back for Friday's PPF. I enjoyed the poll. I usually leave a blank canvas laying around or my journal is open to blank pages. Inspiration grabs me when I see empty pages or blank canvas. Thanks for hosting PPF Eva and Kristin. Lots of fun! Have a great weekend.

  6. I'm loving paint party fridays! Last summer my friends and I used to get together on Sundays and paint, sometimes our friends who didn't paint would pose (nude or otherwise) for us. I don't live there anymore and I miss that alot. : ( But I get to recreate it to some degree with all of you! <3

  8. Hi everyone!

I don't know if I'll be submitting a post this week but I did just want to post this idea. This blog is getting more and more artists every week (yay!!) which makes it a bit more difficult to check out everyone's work (which I love to do but never seem to make it to the end of the list). Anyway, there's a fashion blogger website ( http://www.everybodyeverywear.com/challenges/view/maxi )
where they have a page full of each contributer's photo. It would be really cool to have something like that here in the future. That's probably a bad description, but check out the link to see what I mean :) Can't wait to see all your stuff this week, everybody!

  12. Taking the party live sounds like a wonderful idea! If I had a studio or a larger working space at home, I'd do it! I need to find a room!! :)

PS - I think I'm one of the few who prefers to paint figures/portraits. I appreciate the rest but find sketching and painting people more relaxing. Btw, thank you once again for another week of inspiration and for another great party. You two are wonderful hostesses!!

  25. Happy PPF everyone! Great poll this week. I painted trees and plants/flowers this week (no roses this time), but I do like to do abstracts, too, and I'd like to try some figures and I'm contemplating birds.

I've been really inspired and I am so glad that I have PPF to help motivate me and for all the great encouragement (Thank you!!) and inspiration!

  28. I'm new to the party but it looks like fun! Faces show up a lot in my work and animals and the moon.
    I love your gnome photo!

  29. I can't believe it's week five already! Love the gnome image at the top of the post and am envious of the view the PPFL people had to inspire them!

I ticked whatever inspires me. But common subjects in my creations are trees, mandalas and swirls. But as I love elephants I've tried to have a go at some elephants this week.

I've had fun reading everyone's comments on what they like to paint.

    Happy PPF all!

    Kat X

  31. Hi everyone! Happy PPF..I'll be by visiting the next few days!
My art is continually inspired by whatever journey I am traveling upon..at that time in my life. my journey with art began as a healing journey..and a spiritual journey...then exploratory and creative. and working with others with art also takes it to a very interactive journey...

I used to paint guides and angels etc and intuitive art for others...and medical intuitive energy and healing visions and meditative art for poeple on healing journeys and spiritual journeys....so i am constantly inpsired by my own inner world and those in my world as well.
I draw mostly people..faces..nature interweaving wiht humans and creatures.....and also energy and visions and meditative creations..

I never know what i will create..that is the magic I so enjoy about the journey of art! It is always evolving!!so whatever journey i am onl..it will show up in my art!

well that was a mouthful...great question!

    see you all soon!
