Before we kick off this week's party, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge a concern that was raised in last week's comment section:
We (EVA and Kristin) appreciate your input and take all of your questions seriously. We have discussed this concern ourselves, not only this week but over the years, as well as possible solutions. We kept coming back to our very first posts, the type of place we hoped Paint Party Friday would be, and why we created PPF five and a half years ago...
One of the things that was central to our mission was that we keep it a party free of rules (other than being polite, of course!). While we certainly encourage you to post paintings where you have splashed some sort of actual paint around, we understand that everyone (especially in an ever growing digital age) has a different definition of what "painting" is to them. We would also love for all of the party goers to be able to mingle and chat with as many other painters as they can, but we realize that everyone has different schedules and different amounts of time they can spend on the computer. (It was also brought to our attention that not all of our guests are able to leave comments on certain types of blogs for technical reasons.. Perhaps you can check your settings - the "comments" section - on your blog and make it as flexible as possible. That would be greatly appreciated. The "Anyone" setting is best. You can always delete Spam if you get any.)
It is our hope to keep Paint Party Friday a fun and supportive environment for you to share your weekly painting accomplishments. We would like to continue to be able to allow you to decide for yourself whether PPF is an appropriate place for you to share the type of art that you do. And, as much as we would like to urge you to visit and get to know as many of the other PPF party guests as you can, we realize that only you can decide how much or how little time you have available for participating. We know that we wish we had more time ourselves for painting, partying and visiting with you instead of mostly participating in the background.
It is not (and never has been) our intention to be the painting police. We respect that all of our PPF party guests are adults who can decide whether their post is appropriate for this venue, who can decide how much they participate, and who can simply choose not to visit the blogs that they don't feel are appropriate.
We continue to be amazed, delighted and awed by the love, kindness, and support you all show each other... Thank you for keeping PPF such a caring community and for sharing your beautiful art with us.
We appreciate your feedback, and are always open to your suggestions. Please feel free to email us with any questions you may have.
Enough of the serious stuff... Let's Party!
